NAMIC Chairman to Shave Head and Raise Money for Childhood Cancer Research

The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies will host a St. Baldrick’s Foundation signature head-shaving event to raise funds and awareness for lifesaving childhood cancer research on Tuesday, Sept. 25. NAMIC Chairman and Texas native, Paul Ehlert will “brave the shave” to support the foundation’s mission to find the best treatments for kids with cancer.

This marks the sixth year NAMIC has hosted a head shaving event during its Annual Convention. Last year a world record was set when incoming NAMIC chairman, Henry Gibbel and his wife, Jolyn, raised $194,000 during the event.

For more information, check out Ehlert’s donation page.

One in five children diagnosed with cancer will not survive. Those who do survive often suffer long-term effects from treatment too harsh for their developing bodies. As the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants, St. Baldrick’s Foundation is leading the charge to take childhood back from cancer, raising $253 million in research grant funding since 2005. Donations raised at events like these support the development of childhood cancer treatments that gives kids their best chance at growing up cancer free.
