NAMIC Hits the Airwaves with New Podcast

With the launch of its new podcast, the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies is officially on the air with news, information, and interviews focused exclusively on the property/casualty insurance industry. Insurance Uncovered is the first podcast to provide insurance professionals and others with a review of important headlines along with interviews featuring a wide variety of industry experts.

The podcast, which airs new episodes every two weeks, launched in late March. NAMIC President & CEO Chuck Chamness hosts an interview segment called “Unscripted” where he sits down for a casual conversation with issue experts, NAMIC members, insurance industry allies, and special guests to talk insurance and more. Among recent guests featured on “Unscripted” are retiring IBHS head Julie Rochman and the new CEO of IIHS, Dr. David Harkey.

Coming up in the next episode on May 30, Chamness interviews Ohio State football great Archie Griffin, two-time Heisman trophy winner, and mutual insurance company board member. The legendary football star talks about what he learned on the playing field that has helped him provide insight in his role on the board of Motorists Mutual Insurance Group. The Griffin interview is just one example of how the podcast is bringing a new twist to NAMIC’s member communications.

“As an association, it’s our job to keep our members informed about a wide variety of issues -- advocacy, trends, events, services, and more – and we do that very well through traditional means,” says Chamness. “And now, with Insurance Uncovered, we have a new way to share that wealth of information and entertain our listeners at the same time.”

Though still in the early stages of this endeavor, the impact of the podcast is encouraging. Early results show the podcast has already been listened to more than 1,500 times. Among fans of the podcast is Paul Ehlert, President & CEO of Germania Mutual, and NAMIC’s current Chairman.

“The information I get from the podcast is not just relevant, it’s entertaining too. So, I’m a regular listener, and I have encouraged my employees at Germania to tune in as well,” says Ehlert. “Insurance Uncovered is easy to listen to on the way to work, in the gym, or wherever. It’s a great way to catch up on important industry news, and learn from some of the top experts in our industry along the way.”

Insurance Uncovered is produced by NAMIC staff, with new episodes posted every two weeks. The podcast can be found at or listeners can subscribe directly via iTunes.
