Federal Affairs Director

Katherine Duveneck

Katherine Duveneck serves as director for federal and political affairs representing NAMIC members before Congress and federal regulatory agencies on their priorities relating to the insurance industry.

Prior to joining NAMIC, Duveneck did a brief stint in finance managing political research for a broker-dealer. Before that, she spent several years working for members of Congress in both the Senate and the House in senior roles. She served as the banking legislative assistant for Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska, who serves on the Senate Finance Committee, and previously served on the Senate Banking Committee and Joint Economic Committee. In that role, Duveneck focused on banking, housing, transit, budget, and small business-related policies.

In the House, Duveneck served as legislative director for Rep. David Schweikert of Arizona, where she primarily oversaw the Ways and Means Committee tax and financial services portfolio in addition to the Joint Economic Committee where Schweikert serves as the senior House Republican. Duveneck was the lead staffer when Schweikert was named to the Joint Select Committee on the Solvency of Multiemployer Pensions. Prior to the appointment to Ways and Means she managed Schweikert’s House Financial Services Committee portfolio.

Duveneck is originally from southern California and received her B.A. in Political Science from the School of Public Affairs at American University in Washington, D.C. Duveneck also serves as a board member of the Tax Coalition, an all-women’s tax organization based in Washington D.C.
