Accounts Payable/Receivable Specialist

The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) has a new opportunity for a AP-AR Specialist in our Accounting/Finance Department. This position will provide accounting support for NAMIC and multiple affiliated entities.

Essential functions of the position include:

  • Prepares, processes, posts, verifies, and records customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable.

  • Initiates follow-up on all outstanding invoices including second notices, emails, and phone collection calls.

  • Serves as back-up for accounts payable duties.

  • Assists in completing and tracking of W-9s for the 1099 forms.

  • Maintains files in accordance with company policies for all entities.

  • Performs data entry as needed for required government reporting.

  • Reviews and reconciles accounts receivable reports monthly.

  • Creates ad hoc reports as needed.

  • Provides excellent customer service both internally and externally by responding timely to inquiries.

Qualifications include:

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, or related software.

  • Accounting software experience. Microsoft Dynamics GP or Sage Intacct experience preferred, but not required.

  • Previous experience with multiple company accounting preferred.

  • Understanding of complete cash receipts and disbursement process.

  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background and MVR check.

Digital Advocacy Manager

The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) has a full-time opportunity for a Digital Advocacy Manager. This position supports Public Affairs through strategic communication via digital channels, including social media presence, paid campaigns, and visual storytelling creative.

Responsibilities for this position include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Maintains digital communications strategy, including managing social and digital media campaigns in support of public affairs goals. Determines correct targeting of key association audiences by platform.

  • Generates organic social media content and timeline for digital channels, including X, Facebook, and LinkedIn, etc.

  • Manages content promotion and paid ad campaigns on social platforms.

  • Produces infographics and other visual content to promote NAMIC advocacy efforts via multiple communication channels.

  • Maintains metrics-based regular reporting of digital campaign results to association leadership.

  • Drafts content for association publications, member communications, policy/issue papers, and more.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or related discipline.

  • 3+ years of experience in digital communications or related field.

  • Knowledge of and experience in communicating via social media platforms including X, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

  • Demonstrated leadership of social media and paid digital campaign strategy, as well as graphic design.

  • Firm grasp of metrics-based reporting of digital campaign results.

  • Experience working with media at the local, regional, trade and national levels.

  • Strong writing and editing skills.

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Insurance knowledge a plus, but not required.

  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background and MVR check.

Director of Accounting

The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) has a new opportunity for a Director of Accounting in our Accounting/Finance Department. This position will provide accounting services to support financial operations for NAMIC and multiple affiliated entities while working closely with department leadership to produce financial statements and reports.

Essential functions of the position include:

  • Maintains general ledger and reconciles accounts for assigned entities.

  • Prepares monthly financial statements and variance analysis for our Association Services clients and other assigned entities.

  • Compiles data for annual audits and completes annual tax filings (Form 990, 1099’s, 8872 etc.)

  • Assists with budgeting process for outside clients.

  • Assists with Positive Pay records and other transactional banking.

  • Presents financials to boards, committees, and clients as needed.

  • Works closely with Senior Vice President of Association Services to establish desired scope of work for financials and presents financials at board meetings for assigned entities.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience preferred.

  • Previous experience with multiple company accounting required.

  • Understanding of complete accounting cycle.

  • Great Plains and/or Sage Intacct Experience preferred.

  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background and MVR check.

HR Coordinator

The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) has a new opportunity for an HR Coordinator at our Indianapolis, IN location. This position will provide support for recruitment, payroll/benefits, employee relations, and other HR programs.

Essential functions of the position include:

  • Recruitment: Assists with recruiting, including posting ads, resume review, phone interviews, testing, and reference checking.

  • Onboarding/Offboarding: Ensures efficient and effective onboarding and offboarding for all entering/departing employees. Assists with termination meetings as needed.

  • Payroll: Assists Payroll Coordinator with processing of payroll and serves as back-up payroll contact.

  • Compliance: Coordinates with government agencies to ensure compliance (i.e. Tax/SUI filings, EEOC reporting, etc.)

  • Employee Programs: Assists with employee activities including wellness programs activities, office parties, and other miscellaneous groups.

  • Performance Review & Compensation Administration: Assists with the research of compensation & strategy for NAMIC employees and affiliated entities according to approved compensation philosophy and practice. Creates individual compensation memos, and initiates increases into payroll.

  • Record Keeping: Organizes and maintains all personnel files, job descriptions, and HRIS records as needed for staff management and as required for compliance.

  • Employee Relations: Assists organization efforts to establish a productive, professional, and pleasant work environment. To achieve positive employee relations and morale based on NAMIC values, and the creation of a positive reputation for NAMIC as an employer.

  • Benefits Programs: Assists with research and benchmarking analysis on benefit programs to identify trends and best practices. Coordinates administrative items with WorkSmart to ensure redundancy.

Qualifications include:

  • PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, and/or willingness to obtain preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

  • Experience in employee recruitment activities (resume review, interviewing, etc.) strongly preferred.

  • Understanding of legal issues with recruitment, compliance, and similar human resource activities.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel).

  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background and MVR check.

  • All employees who have access to health information whose confidentiality is protected by the HIPAA Privacy Rule are required by the rule to receive training so that they have an understanding and knowledge of the rule that corresponds to their job responsibilities and of the group health plan’s policies and procedures that impact on their job duties. Training on the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Rule and the plan’s health information policies and procedures under the direction of the plan privacy officer is a prerequisite for this position. Regional Vice President - Midwest

The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) has a new opportunity for a Regional Vice President in our State & Policy Affairs Department. This position will effectively represent and advocate for membership interests while working to achieve association advocacy goals and objectives. States covered: North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, and Missouri.

Essential functions of the position include:

  • Coordinates and implements issue management for specific advocacy priorities and efforts in assigned states.

  • Develops collaborative working relationships with state insurance trade associations, key state legislators, state insurance department staff, and non-insurance allies on pertinent issues.

  • Manages advocacy communications with member companies on the status of NAMIC strategic objectives in designated states, providing expeditious response to member needs and promoting government affairs priorities and opportunities.

  • Produces and delivers testimony, news releases, speeches, commentary, and NAMIC publications as assigned.

  • Promotes member participation in NAMIC’s Congressional Contact Program and in the NAMIC PAC.

  • Creates regular updates in assigned areas for management report.

  • Shows fiscal responsibility in managing NAMIC budget for designated states.

Qualifications include:

  • Three years of experience in a government affairs function, legislative setting (staff or lobbyist with direct legislator interaction) or working for a trade association preferred.

  • Experience in issue management required.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

  • Familiarity with NCOIL, NCSL, ALEC, NAIC and other organizations affecting state insurance laws and regulations preferred.

  • Ability to travel as much as 50 percent of the time during peak periods (January to June).

  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check and must possess an acceptable MVR.

Underwriting Manager

NAMIC Insurance Company (NAMICO), NAMIC’s in-house professional liability insurance company, has a new opportunity for an Underwriting Manager at our Indianapolis location. Reporting to the VP – Underwriting & Chief Underwriting Officer, this full-time position will Manage and coordinate underwriting and policy issuance activities.

Essential functions of the position include:

  • Assists with the development, design, implementation and administration of the underwriting programs, policies, guidelines and practices.

  • Communicates directly with the Company’s business partners and is a principal contact for underwriting department issues.

  • Provides technical assistance and reviews complex risks and programs to ensure compliance, consistency, and profitability.

  • Reviews and approves, modifies, or declines complex and/or unusual risks that have been referred by underwriters. Involves the VP – Underwriting & Chief Underwriting Officer where appropriate.

  • Assist in the analysis and organization of department operations and procedures. Evaluates department metrics and continually seeks to improve workflow efficiency.

  • Negotiates facultative reinsurance agreements and assigns facultative underwriting and binding authority.

  • Works with Compliance/Product Development Department on endorsement and policy development, including rate and form filings with all applicable regulatory agencies.

  • Assists with providing periodic reports to the Company’s board of directors by accurately portraying the underwriting department’s activities and status.

  • Participates with other senior managers in the development of Company strategy and supervises or personally completes special projects and reports as required.

  • Ensures the department’s employees pursue continuing education and training and is personally available to department personnel for questions and problem resolution.

  • Conducts performance reviews of department staff, communicates job expectations and provides coaching, guidance and evaluation of individual performance.

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum of B.S. or B.A. degree or equivalent business experience required.

  • Strong background in directors & officers liability and/or professional liability is highly desirable.

  • Indiana resident insurance agent licenses in property/casualty (including surplus lines license) or the ability to acquire these in an expedient manner.  Licensing in other states is also required.

  • Prior Supervisory experience.

  • Excess & surplus lines, and financial institutions experience desirable.

  • Ability to travel 5-10% of the time which may involve overnight or weekend travel.

  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check and MVR.
