Familiarize yourself with the issues. Also be sure to know who your member of Congress is. Already have a relationship with a member of Congress or are interested in developing one to further educate lawmakers on issues affecting our industry? Then you should look into NAMIC’s Key Contact Program.
Join us at NAMIC’s Government Affairs office in Washington D.C. for an evening briefing that will cover topics you will be discussing on the Hill the next day. Briefings usually start at 4 p.m. and last about 1 hour. It’s at these briefings that you will receive your packet of information including your schedule as well as meet the Government Affairs team.
Suggested attire is business casual. Meet your escort at the location provided on your schedule. From there on out simply follow your NAMIC escort to your appointments and educate your lawmakers on the issues that affect the property/casualty insurance industry.
