In the Weeds

Last week, after the GOP gave up on its efforts to block consideration of the bill, the Senate voted to begin the debate on the “Wall Street Reform Act.” As you know, I have written about this issue in this space many times in the last year and a half as we have closely followed and been involved in the debate at every step. I have been pleased with our efforts in protecting the property/casualty insurance industry; we have helped lawmakers in Washington remain focused on the real problems that led to the financial crisis and not on the business of insurance. In fact, the vast majority of NAMIC’s concerns with this legislation have been addressed. As they say, the devil is in the details however, and our focus is now on the details – we are in the weeds.
