Filling Senator Byrd’s Seat; All Eyes on Gov. Manchin
The residents of West Virginia have not had to worry about filling Sen. Robert Byrd’s seat for five decades, so it is almost fitting that the process be riddled with uncertainty about how to proceed. Whatever the chosen course, it seems as though all roads lead through the governor, Democrat Joe Manchin.
