The Unraveling of a Mess

Come on. You know with that headline I could only be referring to … the broken property insurance system in Florida. It is maddening to read articles like the one published in the Sarasota Herald Tribune in December that described the Florida insurance market as “more dysfunctional than the Kardashians.” While on the surface it might seem that way, you don’t have to dig very deep to figure out that it is not the industry wreaking havoc in the Sunshine State; it was the former governor, Charlie Crist, and his legislative sycophants of a few years ago. Fortunately, the new governor, Rick Scott, understands the issue, and it helps tremendously that many of the new legislators do as well.
